Rockstar has announced that now players of Grand Theft Auto Online can take part in open wheel racing mode in southern San Andreas.
The future of competitive motorsport has arrived, and it’s in a hurry. Two brand new open-wheel ultra-performance vehicles. Seven high-speed tracks. Dozens of split-second decisions, from the tires you use, to whether you take that all-important pit stop. And above all: one seat, one driver, one grand prize.

This new mode of competition will be held on seven new tracks, scattered around several places in San Andreas, including Winewood Hills, City Hall, Los Santos International Airport and others. A full list of available tracks, courtesy of Rockstar, can be found below.

Players can also now head on over to Legendary Motorsport and purchase two new open wheel vehicles: the Ocelot R88 and Progen PR4. Both of these vehicles can be upgraded and fine-tuned at Los Santos Customs.

The Progen PR4 under the brand name Redwood Cigs is clearly a tribute to the MP4 / 6 of 1991, which Ayrton Senna that year participated in the championship of pilots and designers McLaren. This is the car in the F1 2019, but they can’t show the Marlboro logo because smoking is bad.

The Ocelot R88 (the marketing copy in the world: “Never choose between ballerina’s balance and rabid gorilla’s aggression”) is made of the Lotus analogue from the GTA world. At least that’s my impression, because its basic livery is very similar to the iconic 1978 Lotus 79 by Mario Andretti, even if the chassis is about ten years more modern.
