The M48 Patton is a principal battle tank (MBT) that was designed in the US. It was the third tank to be formally named after Basic George S. Patton, commander of the U.S. Third Military throughout World Conflict II and one of many earliest American advocates for using tanks in battle. It was an additional growth of the M47 Patton tank.
