The SA80 (Small Arms for the Eighties) is a British household of 5.56×45mm NATO small arms. It’s a selective fireplace, gas-operated assault rifle. Mechanically, it has been derived from the Armalite AR-18, which had been manufactured underneath licence within the UK by Sterling Armaments Firm. The primary prototypes have been tried in 1976, and manufacturing resulted in 1994. It is because of stay in service till 2025.
