At the beginning of the year, on January 10, the developers decided to withdraw the fourth part and its full publication from the sale in Steam. Four days later, the official message from Rockstar appeared, in which the reason for termination of sales: the lack of ability to generate new keys for Games for Windows – LIVE.
Representatives of the company promised to fix this problem and return the game to the market after some time.
Today the game page in Steam has important information from the developers. From March 19, 2020 GTA IV and GTA Episodes from Liberty City will be combined into one edition – GTA IV: The Complete Edition, which will go on sale not only in Steam, but also in Rockstar Games Launcher.
All players who own these games will be able to upgrade to the full edition for free. Do not worry about saving: they will be fully compatible with the new version.
GTA Episodes from Liberty will disappear from the Steam library and will be replaced by the full edition of GTA IV.
List of changes:
- Games for Windows – LIVE service has been completely removed;
- No network mode;
- Removed the list of leaders in the multiplayer;
- RamJam FM, Self-Actualization FM and Vice City FM stations from Episodes from Liberty City will be temporarily unavailable;
- Retained Japanese subtitles in GTA IV that are not available in EFLC.
- Unfortunately, the network mode has been removed irrevocably. The developers have no plans to restore it.
Owners of disk versions are also not forgotten. If you have an activation key for Games for Windows – LIVE, then you can tie the game to Rockstar Games Social Club and upgrade to the full edition.
