Vice City, the city where Grand Theft Auto: Vice City Stories is set, is considered the “Miami” of GTA. More than a million people live there, probably half of whom are gangsters, criminals, petty thieves, prostitutes or corrupt cops.
Vice is divided into two main islands and smaller ones.
Below are descriptions (in many cases are the official descriptions) and pictures of the most important areas.
Vice City
Who cares about the Vice City story? Probably nobody. Today it’s a city ruled by drug dealers and criminals. Expensive clothes, sports cars and beautiful women are the favorite accessories of the millionaires who spend their afternoons in the shade at the pool to decide the fate of the less fortunate elements of Vice City and the future of the wars between the drug barons.
The warm climate of Vice City may be the only reason why people live in such a place. Weather conditions are generally sunny all year round, with occasional thunderstorms.
Vice City’s economy is heavily dependent on tourism and the black market. There’s a lot of money going around the city (partly true, partly forged), the majority of which changes hands very quickly, finally passing through the hands of those who know how to spend it.
The population of Vice City is around 1.8 million inhabitants, of which a good slice consists of immigrants. There is a large group of Cubans, Haitians, workers and pensioners.
Ocean Beach
It’s the neighborhood that represents the life of Vice City, rich men, women in costume, tourists. The beach is frequented assiduously, the hotels and palm trees are inspired by the atmosphere of Miami.
There are many renowned hotels, among which the most recommended is the hotel Ocean View, comfortable and discreet: a great place to stay when you arrive for the first time in the city.
The Beach
Would you like a romantic walk? A place to walk to make people lose their tracks’? Do you need an ideal place for a dramatic event? Or do you want to enjoy a sunset, give back warmth to your tan or do a gym session?…head to the beach.
Ocean Drive
Driving along Ocean Drive is a night classic in Vice City: the neon signs of the trendy hotels and bars are really a nice sight. Models, actors, tourists, drug dealers and millionaires gather here in the evening to have fun.
During the day, boys on skates roam the waterfront while beautiful girls in bikinis turn on the sand and populate the many cafes.
Leaf Links
Leaf Links’ golf course is located at Vice Point. An extremely relaxing place where golfers take a break between holes.
Downtown
The skyscrapers of Vice City, like most of the city, are deceptively beautiful. At night, the buildings are lit up and give the tempting illusion of perfection.
Little Haiti
Little Haiti, of course, is the center of life for the Haitians of Vice City. If you don’t speak Creole very well, try to buy a dictionary: the effort will be abundantly rewarded. We recommend visiting Aunt Poulet for some voodoo and hot soup. Phil Cassidy’s hideout is also in the area.
Little Havana
Cuban influence is very strong throughout the city, but it is particularly strong in the area known as Little Havana, where Spanish is the most common language and most of the inhabitants are Cuban refugees. If you decide to visit the neighborhood, we strongly recommend you try the Café Robina.
Escobar International
Escobar International is the international airport of Vice City, from where flights will depart and arrive for the whole nation.
Fort Baxter
Fort Baxter, the military base not far from the city’s airport, is manned by the military of Vice City. A restricted area where soldiers will not hesitate twice to open fire against intruders.
